The ancient Beechwood of Monte Raschio is a protected area recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Being survived at the end of the last glacial period and adapted to the new Mediterranean climate thanks to the special microclimate of the forest itself. This majestic forest manages to grow at much lower altitudes compared to the beechwoods of the Apennines, despite being in an area with a Mediterranean climate about 35 km from the Tyrrhenian Sea.
